The Agony of Betrayal

All has been prepared and everything is ready to go. In the next 20 minutes, I will be on the same process I have been on and off for almost 11 years now.

Slowly but surely, the numbness will take over. I will feel the spine-tingling sensation that will overrun my body with unexplainable feeling.

Every hit is like a metric ton of bomb composed of compressed anesthesia, serotonin, endorphin, and oblivion.

I just want to be happy for a brief moment… We just want to be happy…

In the never ending cycle of torment, contempt, and deception, who can you trust? Who can we trust?

The very least person that you can think of is capable of doing these things. I have been there, we have been there…

I have proven that a person that will bet their soul to prove that they love you is also the same person that can betray you to preserve his/her self. To save his/her self from shame and guilt. It is human nature after all…

I am one of those unlucky few that has been condemned to live this life. The way I do things are misconstrued.

It had been misconstrued ever since I can remember. I do not pretend, we do not pretend.

I am used to deal with things on my own. Why start to cling on someone? I will just feel the agony of betrayal. We will just be betrayed.

Now, I take this hit for all those people that needs Norepinephrine to escape depression. You can call me weak. You can call us weak. But I, we, have not judged, betrayed, deceived, and told anyone that we love you but did not.

This 20 minutes will take me, us away. It will make me, us forget. I, we, can go through the day without feeling lonely. Sigh đŸ˜„

“Empty” is such a vague word.

How do “they” come up with great poems and lyrics? Are “they” considered as a literary genius? Do they just come up with random phrases and words that may have lead us to think that these random words are an entity that has a deep meaning? Are “they” really inspired that they can put their feelings in to words? If they are, I envy them. I envy them a lot.

The word empty had been used time and time again that it had lost its meaning. I may not be alone when I say “I feel empty”. You too may have felt empty one way or the other. I am not suicidal nor a masochist. I used to think that committing suicide or committing masochistic deeds are unacceptable. I used to think that the people that do these things are weak. Something have change my perception towards these acts. It is possible that people do these acts because they have already lost. Being weak and losing are 2 different things. They may have tried to fight the feeling of emptiness, but lost to it resulting to suicide or masochistic deeds. Who can blame them? It may be their only way out. It may also be the only answer for them.

I envy my son… A lot… His inspiration when he is being forced to take a bath or to put his clothes on is me… “Mama” he said… Looking at a crying baby’s face that authentically needs comfort and help breaks my heart. Once I hold him in my arms, I know… He is alright… I envy him because he is a child. I envy him because all of the people around him truly, at least for now, cared for him. I was like him before. I believe I am still like him in a certain way… I am not a literary genius. I am unable to put my “emptiness” in to words…

Maybe I am still a baby… Crying, authentically needs comfort and help… But there’s no arms to hold me… No arms to make everything alright…

An Overview On The Mayan Calendar – Is it really predicting the end of the world?

The Mayan calendar moves in cycles with the last cycle ending in December 2012. This is often interpreted as “the world will end on 21 December 2012, at 11:11 UTC”.

The last day of the Mayan calendar corresponds with the Winter Solstice (or December Solstice), which has played a significant role in many cultures all over the world.

The Maya didn’t invent the calendar, it was used by most cultures in pre-Columbian Central America – including the Maya – from around 2000 BC to the 16th century. The Mayan civilization developed the calendar further and it’s still in use in some Maya communities today.

Wheels working together
The Mayan Calendar consists of three separate corresponding calendars, the Long Count, the Tzolkin (divine calendar) and the Haab (civil calendar). Time is cyclical in the calendars and a set number of days must occur before a new cycle can begin.

The three calendars are used simultaneously. The Tzolkin and the Haab identify and name the days, but not the years. The Long Count date comes first, then the Tzolkin date and last the Haab date. A typical Mayan date would read: 13.0.0.0.0 4 Ahau 8 Kumku, where 13.0.0.0.0 is the Long Count date, 4 Ahau is the Tzolkin date and 8 Kumku is the Haab date.

The Haab
The Haab is a 365 day solar calendar which is divided into 18 months of 20 days each and one month which is only 5 days long (Uayeb). The calendar has an outer ring of Mayan glyphs (pictures) which represent each of the 19 months. Each day is represented by a number in the month followed by the name of the month. Each glyph represents a personality associated with the month.

The Haab is somewhat inaccurate as it is exactly 365 days long. An actual tropical or solar year is 365.2422 days long. In today’s Gregorian calendar we adjust for this discrepancy by making almost every fourth year a leap year by adding an extra day – a leap day – on the 29th of February.

The Tzolkin
The divine calendar is also known as the Sacred Round or the Tzolkin which means “the distribution of the days”. It is a 260-day calendar, with 20 periods of 13 days used to determine the time of religious and ceremonial events. Each day is numbered from one to thirteen, and then repeated. The day is also given a name (glyph) from a sequence of 20 day names. The calendar repeats itself after each cycle.

The Long Count
The Long Count is an astronomical calendar which was used to track longer periods of time, what the Maya called the “universal cycle”. Each such cycle is calculated to be 2,880,000 days (about 7885 solar years). The Mayans believed that the universe is destroyed and then recreated at the start of each universal cycle. This belief still inspires a myriad of prophesies about the end of the world.

The “creation date” for the current cycle we are in today, is 4 Ahaw, 8 Kumku. According to the most common conversion, this date is equivalent to August 11, 3114 BC in the Gregorian calendar or September 6 in the Julian calendar.

How to set the date
A date in the Maya calendar is specified by its position in both the Tzolkin and the Haab calendars which aligns the Sacred Round with the Vague Year creating the joint cycle called the Calendar Round, represented by two wheels rotating in different directions. The Calendar round cycle takes approximately 52 years to complete.

The smallest wheel consists of 260 teeth with each one having the name of the days of the Tzolkin. The larger wheel consists of 365 teeth and has the name of each of the positions of the Haab year. As both wheels rotate, the name of the Tzolkin day corresponds to each Haab position.

The date is identified by counting the number of days from the “creation date”.
A typical long count date has the following format: Baktun.Katun.Tun.Uinal.Kin.

Kin = 1 Day.
Uinal = 20 kin = 20 days.
Tun = 18 uinal = 360 days.
Katun = 20 tun = 360 uinal = 7,200 days.
Baktun = 20 katun = 400 tun = 7,200 uinal = 144,000 days.
The kin, tun and katun are numbered from zero to 19; the uinal are numbered from zero to 17; and the baktun are numbered from one to 13. The Long Count has a cycle of 13 baktuns, which will be completed 1.872.000 days (13 baktuns) after 0.0.0.0.0. This period equals 5125.36 years and is referred to as the “Great Cycle” of the Long Count.

End of the World?
Will the world will end on 21 December 2012, at 11:11 UTC?

The Mayan calendar completes its current “Great Cycle” of the Long Count on the 13th baktun, on 13.0.0.0.0. Using the most common conversion to our modern calendar (the Gregorian calendar) the end of the “Great Cycle” corresponds to 11:11 Universal Time (UTC), December 21, 2012, hence the myriad of doomsday prophecies surrounding this date.

The Maya
The Maya kept historical records such as civil events and their calendric and astronomical knowledge. They maintain a distinctive set of traditions and beliefs due to the combination of pre-Columbian and post-Conquest ideas and cultures. The Maya and their descendants still form sizable populations that include regions encompassing present day Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador and parts of Mexico.

Why is Michel De Nostradame’s Prediction a Hoax?

Sorry for the end-of-the-world topics I have been writing. I just want to share these facts I have read, facts that OBVIOUSLY include scientific basis to justify its credibility. I just want people to shrug off their belief that the world will end in December 21st 2012. Hey, don’t you guys want to still be with your loved ones in 2012 and beyond? Why the negativity? I hope you’ll take time on reading this to somehow change your mindset about this very controversial issue. (via 2012 Hoax)

Overview
Michel de Nostredame (latinized as Nostradamus) was a 16th century French apothecary (a rough equivalent of a modern pharmacist). He is best known for his book Les Propheties (“The Prophecies”) (1555).

Almanacs
Following a visit to Italy, Nostredame began to move away from medicine and toward the occult. He wrote an almanac for 1550, for the first time Latinizing his name from Nostredame to Nostradamus. Encouraged by the almanac’s success, he decided to write one or more annually. In response to the almanacs the nobility and other prominent persons soon started asking for horoscopes and “psychic” advice from him. Unlike “professional astrologers” he generally expected his clients to supply the birth charts on which these would be based, rather than calculating them himself. On the occasions where he was obliged to attempt this himself, he made numerous errors.

Les Propheties
He then began his project of writing a book of one thousand mainly French quatrains, which constitute the largely undated prophecies for which he is most famous today. Feeling vulnerable to religious fanatics, however, he devised a method of obscuring his meaning by using “Virgilianized” syntax, word games and a mixture of other languages such as Greek, Italian, Latin, and Provençal. For technical reasons connected with their publication in three installments (the publisher of the third and last installment seems to have been unwilling to start it in the middle of a “Century,” or book of 100 verses), the last fifty-eight quatrains of the seventh “Century” have not survived into any extant edition.

Les Propheties received a mixed reaction when it was published. Some people thought Nostradamus was a servant of evil, a fake, or insane, while many of the elite thought his quatrains were spiritually inspired prophecies, as Nostradamus himself was indeed prone to claim.

Catherine de Medici
Catherine de MĂ©dici, the queen consort of King Henri II of France, was one of Nostradamus’s greatest admirers. After reading his almanacs for 1555, which hinted at unnamed threats to the royal family, she summoned him to Paris to explain them and to draw up horoscopes for her children. At the time, he feared that he would be beheaded, but by the time of his death in 1566, Catherine had made him Counselor and Physician-in-Ordinary to the King.

Problems with Predictions
Translation Issue
Since the quatrains were written in Middle French, and because the original meanings were obscured by his word games, the modern English translations are so vague and replete with metaphor and allusion that you can either conclude that he makes no sense whatsoever, or that you can claim justification for any event immediately after it happens.

Errors
Nostradamus famously predicted prosperity for Henri II just two years before his death in a jousting accident. Proponents of 2012 also usually fail to identiify the quatrain in which he allegedly makes the prediction. Various different quatrains have been used by different authors, and usually these are misquoted.

Ambiguity
Nostradamus’ quatrains are ambiguous and open to wildly divergent interpretations. He does not mention December 21, 2012 directly. His quatrains are subjected to various justifications and interpretations post hoc in order to make the so-called predictions fit the actual events. In other words, proponents of Nostradamus look for matches to events in his quatrains after the events have occurred. This is a particularly noxious form of selection bias that is then used to erroneously justify claims of accuracy.

Dates beyond 2012
If we are to believe that Nostradamus predicted an apocalyptic event in 2012, then we must then ignore the fact that his quatrains extend well beyond 2012. In fact his quatrains reach out to ~3790 AD. So either the world does not end in 2012 and Nostradamus’ subsequent predictions are wrong, or Nostradamus’ predictions after 2012 are correct, and the prediction about 2012 is wrong. This dilemma is rarely discussed by proponents.

Example of a fallacious Post Hoc analysis
Here’s one of the ‘predictions’:
The great star for seven days will burn, The cloud will make two suns appear: The great mastiff will be all night howling, When the great pontiff changes his land. (Century 2, Quatrain 41)

Like all of his quatrains, this is so vaguely worded that you can, with the right spin, claim that Nostradamus predicted nearly any event! For example, the quatrain above could be easily construed as a supernova. Look! Nostradamus predicted SN1987A, the 1988 election of George Bush (The Great pontiff being Reagan), and the defeat of Michael Dukakis (the great mastiff). See how easy it is?

Almost invariably, 2012 proponents who quote Nostradamus rearrange the quatrains to suit themselves. Since the quatrains are so vague, they can be interpreted to mean anything. Examples of this abound on the internet.

Guys, let us all be smart in taking this issue. True, nobody knows when the end of the world will take place, but as much as possible, we can shrug off the scary idea in our heads and look forward to a more blissful future by loving and giving importance to our lives.

Beyond 2012 ♄

This December-21st-end-of-the-world issue has been going on for a few days now. A few more sleeps and we’re about to face doomsday, they say. Well, it is just a nuisance for me. The thought of the world ending right before my eyes is totally scary and have caused me fucking goosebumps for so many times. Yet, I am more of a scientific-basis-first person. I search for scientific answers rather than these mere judgment from some sort of incredible predictions such as Notredamus’. No offense to his believers, but I think there really is no harm in preferring not to take the predictions seriously. I have been reading about Mayan Calendar, End of the World and the like in the internet, and I have come to read NASA’s FAQ being answered. NASA’s answers were really quite interesting. Check this out =D

Beyond 2012: Why The World Won’t End
Contrary to some of the common beliefs out there, the claims behind the end of the world quickly unravel when pinned down to the 2012 timeline. Below, NASA Scientists answer questions on the following 2012 topics:

2012

Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.

Answer (A):The world will not end in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.

Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012?
A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012 and linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 — hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012?
A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then — just as your calendar begins again on January 1 — another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar.

Q: Is NASA predicting a “total blackout” of Earth on Dec. 23 to Dec. 25?
A: Absolutely not. Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization is predicting such a blackout. The false reports on this issue claim that some sort of “alignment of the Universe” will cause a blackout. There is no such alignment (see next question). Some versions of this rumor cite an emergency preparedness message from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. This is simply a message encouraging people to be prepared for emergencies, recorded as part of a wider government preparedness campaign. It never mentions a blackout

Q: Could planets align in a way that impacts Earth?
A: There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades and even if these alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be negligible. One major alignment occurred in 1962, for example, and two others happened during 1982 and 2000. Each December the Earth and sun align with the approximate center of the Milky Way Galaxy but that is an annual event of no consequence.

Q: Is there a planet or brown dwarf called Nibiru or Planet X or Eris that is approaching the Earth and threatening our planet with widespread destruction?

A: Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Q: What is the polar shift theory? Is it true that the Earth’s crust does a 180-degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if not hours?
A: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-switch to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. Scientists believe a magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia.

Q: Is the Earth in danger of being hit by a meteor in 2012?
A: The Earth has always been subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, although big hits are very rare. The last big impact was 65 million years ago, and that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Today NASA astronomers are carrying out a survey called the Spaceguard Survey to find any large near-Earth asteroids long before they hit. We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs. All this work is done openly with the discoveries posted every day on the NASA Near-Earth Object Program Office website, so you can see for yourself that nothing is predicted to hit in 2012.

Q: How do NASA scientists feel about claims of the world ending in 2012?
 A: For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence? There is none, and for all the fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies, documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple fact. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012.

Q: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012?
A: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers are learning how to build electronics that are protected against most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history.

Must-Read Parenting Books

I absolutely know there is no shortcuts to being a perfect parent. Everyone would have their flaws. There is no formula in being the most ideal Mom or Dad, but there are some advice that we can ponder on. Here are some of the must-read parenting books I have come crossed with. I hope you guys find it useful =D

Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs
By Ellen Galensky

Every decade or so, a book comes along that completely changes how we parent. From Dr. Spock’s Baby and Child Care to T. Berry Brazelton’s Infants and Mothers, these landmark books have influenced our thinking about how children learn and develop and have dramatically transformed how we nurture our children’s social, emotional and intellectual growth.

We are now poised to take another major step in our understanding of how children learn and how parents can help with the April 2010 publication of MIND IN THE MAKING: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs (HarperStudio) by Ellen Galinsky, president of the Families and Work Institute. Bringing together all of the new science of child development in an understandable way, Galinsky offers a groundbreaking parenting book – one that will alter the way we raise and teach our children while showing us (instead of telling us) how to go about it.

For the last eight years, Galinsky has worked with the top researchers in the field, filming their experiments and studying their results in an unprecedented collaborative effort to bring the science of early learning to families and to the professionals who work with children. In MIND IN THE MAKING, she shares what they have learned and how they have learned it. But then she takes their findings a step further, identifying seven life skills that will help children reach their full potential in school, the workforce – and in life. Galinsky then shows parents how to instill these skills in their children by doing everyday things in new ways.

NurtureShock: New Thinking About Children
By: Po Bronson, Ashley Merryman

In a world of modern, involved, caring parents, why are so many kids aggressive and cruel?  Where is intelligence hidden in the brain, and why does that matter?  Why do cross-racial friendships decrease in schools that are more integrated?  If 98% of kids think lying is morally wrong, then why do 98% of kids lie?  What’s the single most important thing that helps infants learn language?

  NurtureShock is a groundbreaking collaboration between award-winning science journalists Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman.  They argue that when it comes to children, we’ve mistaken good intentions for good ideas.  With impeccable storytelling and razor-sharp analysis, they demonstrate that many of modern society’s strategies for nurturing children are in fact backfiring–because key twists in the science have been overlooked.
  Nothing like a parenting manual, the authors’ work is an insightful exploration of themes and issues that transcend children’s (and adults’) lives

Smart Parenting for Smart Kid: Nurturing Your Child’s True Potential
By Eileen Kennedy Moore

“My kid is smart, but…”

It takes more than school smarts to build a fulfilling life.  In fact, many bright children face special challenges:
– Some are driven by perfectionism;
– Some are afraid of effort, because they’re used to instant success;
– Some routinely butt heads with authority figures;
– Some struggle to get along with their peers;
– Some are outwardly successful but just don’t feel good about themselves.
This warm and practical book explains why and offers parents do-able strategies for raising capable, confident, and caring children.

With wisdom and compassion, this book describes specific approaches parents can use to guide children toward developing inner strength and outward empathy. Drawing from research as well as the authors’ clinical experience, this book provides strategies for helping children learn to cope with feelings, build relationships, and embrace learning.  It focuses on the essential skills children need to make the most of their abilities and find personal satisfaction.

Toddler 101: Make the Most Out of Playtime

My son, at the age of two, is becoming more active. I also notice that his preferred games are becoming more physical. No matter how hard I try to keep up with him, my energy level never seemed to be enough. Being a working mom, it’s always hard to clean up the mess my son has left after playing. But observing my son while he enjoys all this messy playful activities, I can’t help but you know, just let him do whatever he wants. His laughter and the excitement in his face are very much priceless whenever he is playing. And I do not have the heart to tell him to stop what he loves doing.

Playtime is special. Not only is it fun, but it is critical to children’s development. Play is their “work” and their way of learning about the world around them. Through play, babies and toddlers try out new skills, explore their imagination and creativity, and learn about relationships with other people. Most especially with the kids they get to mingle outside.

Any activity can be playful to young children, whether it’s rolling trucks back and forth or sorting socks. And any type of play can offer multiple opportunities to learn and practice new skills:

As a parent, you are your child’s very first and favorite playmate. From the very beginning of your child’s life, he is playing with you, whether he is watching your face as you feed him or listening to your voice as you sing to him during his diaper change. He is at work, learning and exploring. So instead of stopping them from playing, though I know it’s gonna take a lot of cleaning up, coming from a working Mom like myself, let us give them the chance to make the most out of playtime activities in such a way that their health or physical condition wouldn’t be compromised.

In my 2 and a half years of being a Mom to my toddler and another 4 month old baby boy, I believe I have made myself good at reading my toddler’s signals. Your little one may not be able to tell you using words when he’s had enough or when he’s frustrated, or say not enjoying his games anymore. Babies would always have their other ways—like using their sounds (which most of the times tells if they are about to throw tantrums), facial expressions, and gestures. Reading the signals that precede a tantrum help you know when to jump in or change to a new activity. Reading his signals can also tell you what activities your child prefers.

This picture was taken yesterday afternoon, during my 2 and a half years old son’s regular afternoon playtime. It was my day off and I was able to watch after him personally. I won’t deny that his jumping and non-stop running always freaks the hell out of me, thinking he may possibly tip over and hurt himself. But Mommies, one of the hardest yet most worth it thing to ever give your child is the simple kind of ‘trust’ that they will be able to play without them getting hurt, encourage them to run carefully by reminding them of the hurtful things they might get when they do not listen to you. I guessed it was worth the try, having to go home seeing my son tired but happy. He didn’t get any wound, he was in fact very satisfied and is surely looking forward to another wonderful day outside 🙂

Top 7 Biggest Flash Mobs Ever

Flash Mob = A group of people who assemble suddenly in a place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails.

In Manhattan year 2003, the first ever flash mob activity was created by Bill Wasik, Harper’s Magazine Senior Editor. The first attempt though, was unsuccessful after the targeted retail store was tipped off about the plan for people to gather. Wasik avoided such problems during the first successful flash mob, which occurred on June 3, 2003, at Macy’s department store, by sending participants to preliminary staging areas—in four Manhattan bars—where they received further instructions about the ultimate event and location just before the event began.

More than 130 people converged upon the ninth floor rug department of the store, gathering around an expensive rug. Anyone approached by a sales assistant was advised to say that the gatherers lived together in a warehouse on the outskirts of New York, that they were shopping for a “love rug”, and that they made all their purchase decisions as a group.  About 200 people flooded the lobby and mezzanine of the Hyatt hotel in synchronized applause for about 15 seconds, and a shoe boutique in SoHo was invaded by participants pretending to be tourists on a bus trip. (As stated in Wikipedia)

Wasik said that “flash mobs” was created simply to initiate fun the most unique and creative way possible. It has gained many different reactions, though. Some people find it fun, while some find it highly offensive or distracting. However, some people got to apply the concept of flash mobs not only in advertising or promotion, but also for wedding surprises, marriage proposals and the like. Here are some of the biggest Flash Mobs of all time.

The Supermarket Flash Mob
In Manchester, 50 flash mobbers attempted to replicate ‘Frozen Grand Central’ in a local grocery store. The participants froze simultaneously throughout the store, holding up grocery items, leaning on columns, and even laying down on the floor. The result is very Twilight Zone-esque, as the regular shoppers continue to walk throughout the store, going about their business.

The Black Eyed Peas Flash Mob  – Oprah
A flash mob can be used to surprise a whole crowd of people or a single person. When the Black Eyed Peas performed on Oprah’s show in Chicago the whole audience surprised her with a flash mob. The dancing starts out with one enthusiastic girl in the front row and works its way to the back of the crowd until everyone is dancing to a choreographed routine. Oprah thought it was amazing to watch, and millions of viewers agree.

The Michael Jackson Dance Tribute Stockholm
‘Frozen Grand Central’ used the flash mob as a prank, T-Mobile and Belgian television used it for advertising, and in Stockholm, Sweden 300 dancers used it to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. The group of dancers learned the routine in half an hour and performed it an hour later, to the surprise and amusement of onlookers. The video has been viewed over 6.6 million times.

The Sound of Music Antwerp
200 dancers in the Central Station of Antwerp broke out dancing to ‘Do Re Mi’ from The Sound of Music in this clip, which has been viewed over 16.8 million times. This flash mob was organized as a promotion for a Belgian television show searching for someone to play the leading role in The Sound of Music.

The T-Mobile Dance
In 2011, T-Mobile jumped on the flash mob bandwagon and rocked Liverpool Street Station in the clip ‘The T-Mobile Dance’. With over 20 million views, T-Mobile hit the jackpot with this advertisement.

The Frozen Grand Central Flash Mob
‘Frozen Grand Central’ is the clip that got the ball rolling for the flash mob revolution. Uploaded two years ago, with over 21.5 million views, this clip shows over 200 people freeze in the middle of Grand Central Station out of the blue. Minutes later, just as quickly as they froze, they unfreeze and walk away. The reactions of onlookers are priceless.

Flash Mob at the Ohio Union
Ohio State students and staff broke out in dance in a flash mob rendition of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ at the new Ohio Union. The clip was uploaded to YouTube and already has over 236,000 views, 1,336 comments and 2,045 ratings.

Just a couple of weeks ago, a Flash Mob style Wedding Proposal – Marriage has gone viral on local TV and internet sites in the Philippines. A prominent actor proposed to his live-in partner, a prominent actress as well,  for 10 years. Right then and there, he brought her straight into a wedding ceremony upon accepting his proposal. Everybody knows what’s going on, but the woman. She was made to believe that she was having a bridal shoot not knowing that’s going to be the most memorable day of her life.

I personally think there is nothing wrong with whatever kind of Flash Mob event people want to innovate. It is actually fun and it makes the supposedly simple event a lot more memorable. Organizers just have to be extra careful though, because not everyone will be willing to spend their valuable time participating on such activity.

The Law of Attraction ♄ You Attract What You Think =D

It is one simple rule that we unconsciously apply in our daily lives. When we hope for better things to come, it surely will. And when we keep on thinking about negative things, they really seem to follow. Nonetheless, this isn’t applicable for everyone, in every situation. I, myself, have experienced hoping for something really good to happen and would end up feeling frustrated.I have questioned the law of attraction so many times.

Just because you firmly believe that something good would happen doesn’t mean it will. I personally think it still requires smart work and determination. Have you asked yourself sometime, when you wish for something to happen, if you really believe deep inside? Or the fear or disappointment somehow hinders you to do so, afraid that you are going to get hurt when it wasn’t given to you? It all happens to us. We keep on saying that we are all positive about what we wish for, but we are kind of aloof deep in our hearts, preparing ourselves for the negative outcome. Now, I must say, we aren’t really thinking positively, are we?

On one story posted on Oprah.com, acclaimed author Louise Hay is considered the mother of positive thinking. She is back to continue the conversation about the law of attraction, which is the basis of The Secret . “The law of attraction is that our thinking creates and brings to us whatever we think about,” she says. “It’s as though every time we think a thought, every time we speak a word, the universe is listening and responding to us.”

Keep in  mind that negativity can keep you from obtaining the things you want in life. We don’t want to put ourselves down, and we don’t want to say, ‘Oh, it will never work for me,’ or ‘I’m not good enough.’ Because that’s what the universe hears and returns to you. We have to keep our faith. We get what we think, we get what we unconsciously attract.
